Hello and Welcome

to AmySummers.com. I am Amy, a second-year student at the University of Akron pursuing a degree in mathematics. My wonderful boyfriend, Ryan, designer and programmer of this site, got me interested in learning programming. And, oddly enough, having programming experience will make finding a job in this field far easier, which is why I’m here. My blog documents my attempt at self-teaching, since my ICS class left me with little more than a bitter taste in my mouth, and my photo gallery is a fun little collection of my nonacademic experiences. For the time being, my focus is Java. If it goes well, I’ll attempt other languages. My ultimate goal is to have enough experience to be able to pursue a minor (and possibly second major if time allows) in computer science.
